Machine Safety Sales Engineer
Machine Safety Sales Engineer
Hawke's Bay
$100k-$130k + vehicle for personal use
Sell machine safety and automation solutions backed by engineers who deliver the full project. Clear path into senior technical sales.
- $100k to $130k + vehicle for personal use
- Sell solutions your own engineering team designs and delivers
- Grow a specialist business stream with a clear career path
Plenty of providers can do a machine safety assessment. Far fewer can fix what they find.
Here you'll sell the complete package: assessment, design, and implementation across mechanical, electrical, and software. When a customer asks if you can back it up, the answer is yes.
You'll be the sales lead for machine safety and automation in a multi-disciplinary business, with CMSE certified experts, electrical designers, and automation and mechanical engineers behind every proposal you write. You don't need to be a certified machine safety expert yourself. The specialists handle the detailed assessments, design, and validation.
Why you'll love this
Machine safety is the focus, and the market for it is relatively untouched in the regions. WorkSafe has been through the wood manufacturers and is now turning its attention to the food manufacturers, so the demand is real. You'll cross-sell automation, electrical, and mechanical engineering project delivery as well, so you'll be selling comprehensive project solutions.
You'll own the sales side. Site visits, discovery meetings, writing proposals and business cases with the technical team, presenting, and closing. You'll also project manage some of the jobs you sell, so you stay connected to the outcome rather than handing everything over once the deal is done.
You'd be growing a specialist business stream, with development into a senior technical sales or business development role as it builds.
The travel is manageable too: you'll cover the Central North Island from a Hawke's Bay base, with roughly one night a week away. A company vehicle for personal use, phone, and laptop are all part of the package.
What you'll do
- Meet existing and new customers to identify safety and automation opportunities
- Run site visits and discovery meetings to understand each customer's operation
- Write proposals and business cases with input from the engineering team
- Present proposals with a clear ROI case and convert them into projects
- Manage your own pipeline and project manage some of the jobs you sell
What you'll need
- A track record of active selling and converting opportunities into orders
- Enough engineering aptitude to hold your own with technically sharp customers
- Engineering, technical sales, or industrial account management backgrounds fit
- Machine Safety awareness and understanding
- CMSE certification is a bonus, not a requirement
About the company
This is an established Hawke's Bay automation business serving industrial customers throughout New Zealand, with a team covering electrical and mechanical design, automation engineering, and CMSE certified machine safety expertise. They design, install, and commission safety systems to AS/NZS 4024 and related standards.
Their point of difference is simple. They can do the assessment, then the design and implementation, mechanically, electrically, and in software. Customers deal with one provider for the whole job, and the company has a record of making plants safer while improving productivity at the same time.
Please Note: This role is open exclusively to New Zealand Citizens, Permanent Residents, and Resident Visa holders.
