Assistant Head of Primary School

Due to roll growth, we have a rare and exciting opportunity to join our team as a permanent full-time Assistant Head of Primary School based primarily on our Junior Campus (Years 1-6) starting 28 January 2027.
Located on the beautiful Hibiscus Coast of Auckland, KingsWay is a high achieving, growing, state integrated Christian school catering for Year 1-13 students, with a current roll of over 2000 students. Our staff are supportive and collaborative, and our work is inspired by love/aroha, heartened by faith/whakapono in Jesus Christ, and motivated by gospel hope/tumanako.
About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and relational education leader who is passionate about combining their strong personal Christian faith with educational leadership. As an Assistant Head of Primary School, you will be a key member of the Primary Senior Management Team (SMT) and the wider KingsWay School Senior Leadership Team, supporting the ongoing growth, development, and strategic direction of our Junior Campus.
This role carries 4 SU and 1 MMA and provides an exciting opportunity to influence teaching and learning, develop staff capability, and contribute to a thriving Christian learning community.
The successful applicant will have:
- A thorough understanding of the developmental, academic, and pastoral needs of primary-aged students.
- A sound understanding of the New Zealand Curriculum, effective assessment practices, and evidence-informed teaching.
- Proven success in enhancing educational outcomes for Year 1-6 students.
- The ability to build high-trust relationships and lead collaboratively with students, staff, parents, and the wider community through excellent communication.
- The ability to coach, inspire, and develop teachers while leading continuous improvement in teaching and learning.
- Strong organisational skills, sound professional judgement, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- A demonstrated commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the ability to authentically embed bicultural practice within a Christ-centred learning environment.

Confidence using a range of digital technologies to support teaching, learning, leadership, and school operations.
