Mō te tūranga | About the Role We are seeking an astute Lawyer to join Westpac’s Institutional and Business Banking legal team. You will be part of a team delivering high quality legal support and advice across the bank. Key Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Lead the internal legal stream on a wide range of lending and/or capital markets transactions, including corporate financing, securitisations, project financing, asset financing, sustainable financing, bilateral lending, syndicated lending and club arrangements
  • \n
  • Negotiate with a variety of professionals in diverse jurisdictions
  • \n
  • Foster excellent working relationships with the wider Westpac legal team and business units
  • \n
What you bring\n
    \n
  • Legal Counsels with a range of years PQE.
  • \n
  • Bachelor of Laws (or equivalent) and NZ Practicing Certificate
  • \n
  • NZ law firm or in house banking and finance experience
  • \n
  • Strong technical skills in the work areas identified below, including sound knowledge of: New Zealand banking and securities laws, Market standard lending documentation, Legislation and regulations impacting Banks including FMCA, AML/CFT, CCCFA and relevant Reserve Bank requirements, General corporate and commercial legislation such as Companies Act, Unfair Contract Terms

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
  • \n
  • Proven legal research and legal opinion writing ability
  • \n
