About the Role\n

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Thrombosis, you will provide expert clinical leadership, coordinate care across the continuum, and improve outcomes for patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) requiring complex case management.

This is a 0.5 FTE position based across North Shore and Waitākere Hospitals, with flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities\n
    \n
  • Provide specialist clinical advice and management for patients with venous thrombosis.
  • \n
  • Coordinate and deliver safe, timely, evidence-based care.
  • \n
  • Work closely with haematologists and multidisciplinary teams in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up.
  • \n
  • Share responsibility across the CNS team to ensure service continuity and care coordination.
  • \n
  • Support and mentor staff through education, coaching, and role modelling.
  • \n
  • Contribute to quality improvement, research, and service development initiatives.
  • \n
  • Promote equitable outcomes and culturally safe care, including commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • \n
Qualifications\n
    \n
  • Registered Nurse (RN) with a current New Zealand practising certificate.
  • \n
  • Postgraduate Certificate in specialty nursing (or working toward further study).
  • \n
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a RN Level 4 (or equivalent) with a current portfolio.
  • \n
  • Advanced assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and pharmacology knowledge.
  • \n
  • Proven ability in care coordination and multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated clinical leadership and mentoring capability.
  • \n
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • \n
  • Cultural competence and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and health equity.
