About the Role\nAs a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Thrombosis, you will provide expert clinical leadership, coordinate care across the continuum, and improve outcomes for patients with venous thromboembolism (VTE) requiring complex case management.
\nThis is a 0.5 FTE position based across North Shore and Waitākere Hospitals, with flexible working arrangements.
Responsibilities\n- \n
- Provide specialist clinical advice and management for patients with venous thrombosis. \n
- Coordinate and deliver safe, timely, evidence-based care. \n
- Work closely with haematologists and multidisciplinary teams in assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up. \n
- Share responsibility across the CNS team to ensure service continuity and care coordination. \n
- Support and mentor staff through education, coaching, and role modelling. \n
- Contribute to quality improvement, research, and service development initiatives. \n
- Promote equitable outcomes and culturally safe care, including commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. \n

- Registered Nurse (RN) with a current New Zealand practising certificate. \n
- Postgraduate Certificate in specialty nursing (or working toward further study). \n
- Minimum 3 years experience as a RN Level 4 (or equivalent) with a current portfolio. \n
- Advanced assessment, diagnostic reasoning, and pharmacology knowledge. \n
- Proven ability in care coordination and multidisciplinary collaboration. \n
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and mentoring capability. \n
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement. \n
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills. \n
- Cultural competence and commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and health equity. \n
