About the Role\n

Permanent, full‑time role (Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week). Join a modern, world‑renowned tertiary hospital that provides comprehensive orientation and ongoing education in a supportive, team‑based environment.

The Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role is an advanced nursing practice role that encompasses responsibility and coordination of nursing care to a specific patient group across health‑care settings both locally and regionally. You will deliver professional and clinical leadership, patient care coordination, education, and clinical teaching to patients, whanau and staff.

\n

Role covers primary, secondary and tertiary care of complex patients. Your primary role will be to provide care coordination and ensure patients receive timely interventions. You will act as a point of contact for patients and the wider multidisciplinary team, support patients and whanau, nursing and medical staff on the wards, refer to multidisciplinary team, organise family meetings as required, assist with discharge planning, and communicate plans to patient, whanau, team and local DHBs.

You will work autonomously within a supportive senior nursing team committed to effective and evidence‑based nursing practice.

Key Responsibilities\n

  • Provide care coordination and ensure timely interventions for patients.

  • Act as point of contact for patients and multidisciplinary team.

  • Support patients, whanau, nursing and medical staff on wards.
  • \n
  • Refer to multidisciplinary team, organise family meetings, assist with discharge planning.

  • Communicate care plans to patient, whanau, team and local DHBs.

Qualifications and Experience\n
    \n
  • At least 3‑5 years of post‑graduate experience, preferably in General Surgery.
  • \n
  • Interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams and service members.
  • \n
  • Maintain safe cultural practice and develop cultural knowledge.
  • \n
  • Excellent supervisory, communication and problem‑solving skills to relate to and work with staff and patients at all levels.
  • \n
  • PDRP proficiency or expert status, or supported pathway.
  • \n
  • Specialty knowledge and practice expertise.
  • \n
  • Postgraduate certificate or diploma in specialty nursing practice.
  • \n
  • Working towards completion of Master's degree in nursing or health‑related area.
  • \n
  • Registration with the Nursing Council of New Zealand (NCNZ) and current Annual Practicing Certificate.
