Are you an experienced finance professional with a background in accounts receivable, payables, credit management or revenue services? Do you enjoy leading people, improving processes and finding practical solutions to complex problems?
\nTasman District Council is looking for a Team Leader - Revenue & Payables to lead a team responsible for accounts receivable, debt management and accounts payable functions.
\nThis is an opportunity to combine your technical finance expertise with people leadership in a role that is varied, challenging and highly valued across the organisation.
\nAbout the role
\nReporting to the Business Services & Rates Manager, you'll lead a small team of finance professionals responsible for revenue and payable functions across Council.
\nYou'll:
\n- \n
- Lead and support a team delivering accounts receivable, and accounts payable services \n
- Oversee Council's debt management and debt recovery processes \n
- Ensure financial transactions, reconciliations, refunds and transfers are accurate and compliant \n
- Monitor workloads, priorities and service delivery across the team \n
- Coach, mentor and develop team members to achieve their potential \n
- Identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and customer service \n
- Provide financial reporting, analysis and operational support to the Business Services & Rates Manager as their 2IC \n
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical finance responsibilities with leadership, relationship management and continuous improvement.
\nAbout you

- Strong experience in finance, accounts receivable, credit management, revenue administration or a similar field \n
- Experience leading, mentoring or developing staff \n
- Sound financial systems, reporting and reconciliation skills \n
- Confidence managing complex customer accounts and debt recovery situations with professionalism and empathy \n
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail \n
- A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to make things better \n
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships \n
Experience within local government would be an advantage, but it isn't essential.
