\nMiddlemore Hospital offers secondary-level (hospital and specialist) care and a selected range of community and domiciliary services for the population of Counties Manukau - the area that stretches from Otahuhu to Port Waikato.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity\nThis position is to lead, implement improvements and provide the Physiotherapy Orthopaedic Musculoskeletal hospital clinical pathway. It will be responsible for providing patient and whānau‑centred clinical care in an expert capacity working with patients referred to the Orthopaedic service. Based at Middlemore Hospital in the Acute Allied Health Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy team, the role will work with the Orthopaedic Surgical Services to provide Physiotherapy led first specialist appointment (FSA) to patients referred for orthopaedic assessment and treatment.
\nThis is a designated position that utilises advanced knowledge and expert clinical skills and competencies to coordinate, deliver care and take primary responsibility for management of illness or impairments in a group/s of patients assigned or referred to the practitioner. Clinical care provided will predominately be as an independent practitioner taking responsibility for a range of investigations and interventions representative of the higher end of the scope of practice or be unique or leading‑edge practice for the discipline. The role will also contribute to specialist service development and contribute to the organisation and profession through leadership, research, innovation, strategy and policy development.
Qualifications\n- \n
- Registration with the New Zealand physiotherapy Board, with a current annual practising certificate. \n
- Working towards a relevant masters or higher qualification. \n
- Minimum 8 years clinical experience, including 3 years experience in the area of orthopaedics and musculoskeletal physiotherapy. \n
- Must demonstrate the competencies required for advanced clinical practice specific to this pathway. \n
- Experience supervising and mentoring clinicians. \n
- Programme roll out and management skills, including reporting and clinical governance expertise. \n
- Experience in research, evaluation and audit. \n
- Cultural awareness and understanding. \n
