We have a fantastic opportunity for a Consultant Gastroenterologist affiliated with the University of Otago. The role is available to start as soon as possible, with flexibility to negotiate hours of work, length of employment and the possibility of combining General Medicine.
\nAbout the Service
\n Te Whatu Ora – Southern offers a comprehensive range of Gastroenterology services in both main hospitals in Dunedin and Invercargill, plus outpatient clinics across the district. Although based in Southland, we will consider candidates based in Dunedin, provided they can travel to Invercargill.
In this role you will participate in a 1:4 on‑call roster and provide a full range of Gastroenterology services with an enthusiastic team. Planning is underway to redevelop facilities and expand the department, offering opportunities to contribute to development and to the laboratory and clinical research. Enthusiasm for teaching, teamwork and a commitment to improving service delivery quality are essential.
\nDunedin is a vibrant university town. Dunedin Hospital has 350 beds and serves ~180,000 people; Southland Hospital in Invercargill has 180 beds and serves ~100,000 people.
\nUtu whānui | Salary range
\n This role belongs to the ASMS Collective Agreement and falls between Step 1 ($185,380) and Step 15 ($267,980 p.a. prorata).

About You
\nAppointed specialists must possess FRACP or an equivalent qualification. Trainees within a few months of completing FRACP training are welcome to express interest. ERCP experience is desirable but not essential.
