Consulting - Finance, Economics and Analytics - Manager
Job Description
We’re looking for a Manager to join our Finance, Economics and Analytics team within Consulting, based in Pōneke / Wellington. In this role, you’ll lead and contribute to advisory projects across a range of industries, helping clients make confident decisions through clear financial, economic and commercial analysis. Our work includes financial modelling, business cases, feasibility studies, valuations, strategic options analysis, investment strategy, transaction support, economic analysis, and other analytical and commercial advice. This is a full‑time, fixed‑term role for 18 months, working a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities\n- \n
- Lead consulting projects across different industries, delivering practical financial, economic and strategic advice for clients. \n
- Review and guide financial analysis, cost‑benefit analysis, forecasting, valuations, feasibility assessments and economic impact analysis. \n
- Design and oversee financial models, forecasts and data analysis to create robust, easy‑to‑understand insights. \n
- Coaching and supporting junior team members, helping build capability, confidence and quality across the team. \n
- Build trusted relationships with clients, internal teams and external stakeholders to support high‑quality outcomes. \n

- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in corporate, government or consulting environments, with a focus on financial, commercial, economic or advisory work. \n
- Experience working in a professional services environment or Big4 would be an advantage. \n
- A degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field – postgraduate qualifications are advantageous, with CFA or CA preferred. \n
- Strong commercial judgement, analytical thinking and the ability to understand clients’ organisations and the challenges they are working through. \n
- Experience leading or contributing to complex financial or economic projects, with the ability to provide clear advice and quality assurance. \n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas clearly to different audiences. \n
- Advanced Excel capability, including structured worksheet design, formula‑driven modelling, accuracy checks, and matching, summarising and analysing data. VBA macro experience would be a bonus. \n
- Strong understanding of economic principles and quantitative methods, including evaluating market trends, policy impacts and economic risks. \n
