About the Role\nHealth New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is committed to building a health system that serves all NewZealanders. The Risk Manager role follows the introduction of the electronic risk management system and works with the Quality & Patient Safety Team to provide accurate and efficient operation and maintenance of risk‑management administration systems and processes for serious events and coroners. The role supports services and the wider hospital in sharing, learning and improving, and collaborates with Regional and National Health NZ Risk teams as required.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Facilitate risk‑management principles across all services within the Waikato District. \n
- Promote the use of the electronic risk‑management system and act as a super‑user, particularly for the risk register and incident reporting. \n
- Manage the serious‑event review process to ensure reviews are completed in line with process and policy. \n
- Ensure clinicians and the wider hospital implement recommendations from coroners’ reports and serious‑event reviews. \n
- Provide accurate and timely reports, particularly relating to serious‑event activity, the risk register, coroners’ activity and incident volumes/trends from the electronic risk‑management system. \n
- Collaborate with Regional and National Health NZ Risk teams as required. \n

- Risk‑management experience leading large services or organisations. \n
- Previous experience in healthcare settings, including as a clinician, is strongly desired. \n
- Proven experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word and Visio. \n
- Excellent analytical and trend‑analysis skills. \n
- Ability to write reports to a level accepted by committees and senior management. \n
- Previous administration experience and strong organisational skills. \n
- Good interpersonal and communication skills. \n
- Deep understanding of tikanga Māori and te ao Māori principles, whether professionally or through lived experience. \n
- Commitment to working in a holistic and culturally responsive manner. \n
