Job Description
This is a larger force in New Zealand’s commercial construction industry, delivering complex, high‑value projects across the country. Their work spans large government facilities, heritage and historic building restorations, high‑rise apartment developments, and technical commercial refurbishments ranging from $10M to $150M. With a reputation for capability and precision, they consistently deliver projects of scale and complexity.
About the Role\nThis is a key position within the business, responsible for managing the tendering and estimating functions from project inception through to completion including ECI works. You will produce accurate, high‑quality tenders, ensure margin clarity, and uphold the company’s standards of technical excellence.
\nWorking autonomously, you will take full ownership of your workload and play a central role in growing both the project pipeline and the profitability of awarded work. This role requires a detail‑driven professional who understands the commercial realities of major construction projects and can deliver estimates with precision and confidence.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Produce accurate and detailed estimates with a strong focus on margins and cost integrity. \n
- Analyse market rates and maintain strong knowledge of local suppliers, subcontractors, and industry conditions. \n
- Review technical documentation for buildability, risks, and cost implications. \n
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to ensure tender accuracy and alignment. \n
- Support pipeline growth through strategic bidding and commercial insight. \n
- Provide clear handover documentation to project delivery teams post‑award. \n

- Minimum 8+ years of estimating experience across commercial construction. \n
- Strong understanding of local market conditions, construction rates, and NZ construction legislation. \n
- Experience working on large‑scale commercial builds, including government, heritage, high‑rise, and technical refurbishments. \n
- High level of autonomy, ownership, and commercial awareness. \n
- Relevant tertiary qualification in construction management, engineering, or a related field. \n
Salary: $150K – $180K, depending on experience.
