About the Role\nWe are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) – Oncology to lead advanced clinical care across the cancer care pathway. This permanent part‑time role is suited to a senior clinician experienced in oncology who can confidently manage complex patient care and clinical situations.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n
- Provide advanced clinical care for patients with suspected or confirmed cancer, including complex cases. \n
- Undertake comprehensive assessment, triage, prioritisation, and ongoing management. \n
- Act as a key clinical resource for patients, whānau, and healthcare professionals. \n
- Support equitable and timely access to cancer services and treatment. \n
- Ensure clear and effective communication across all services and teams. \n
- Contribute to multidisciplinary care and clinical decision‑making. \n
- Provide clinical leadership and support day‑to‑day practice within the service. \n
- Deliver education, mentoring, and support to build team capability. \n
- Contribute to service development and quality improvement initiatives. \n
We work as a collaborative multidisciplinary team—oncology, haematology, palliative care, allied health, and community providers—to support patients throughout diagnosis, treatment, and follow‑up. Located in Nelson, this role offers a supportive environment and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
About You\n- \n
- Current New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate as a Registered Nurse. \n
- Extensive post‑registration nursing experience, ideally within oncology, haematology, or related specialist services. \n
- Demonstrated clinical leadership and advanced assessment skills. \n
- A strong commitment to patient‑centred care and equity. \n
- Excellent communication, coordination, and relationship‑building abilities. \n
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment. \n
- Ready to work at Health New Zealand. \n
Travel between hospital sites across Nelson Marlborough is required. Work three 8‑hour shifts per week (Monday to Sunday) on a rostered and rotating basis.
