Research Nurse – Infectious Diseases Location: Middlemore Hospital Employment type: Part‑time (FTE negotiable) About Aotearoa Clinical Trials Aotearoa Clinical Trials (ACTT) is one of New Zealand's leading clinical trial site networks with proven capability in managing commercial and non‑commercial grant‑funded trials. Established over 20 years ago, ACTT operates at Middlemore and Whangārei hospitals, covers 25 therapeutic areas, and is currently running over 150 clinical trials. About the role We are seeking a Research Nurse at Middlemore Hospital to run clinical trials and related research with a focus on Infectious Diseases (ID) research. The role involves coordination of clinical trials and research in partnership with principal investigators (PIs) and other trial team members. The successful candidate will screen patients for eligibility, recruit participants, obtain informed consent, collect study samples, perform data entry, manage the database, liaise with the ID and treating clinical teams, follow up with study participants, and conduct visits for participants enrolled in ID clinical trials. The research nurse is also responsible for the successful completion of the trial in accordance with International Conference of Harmonisation (ICH) Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines and will support other non‑ID clinical trials as required. Key responsibilities Coordinate all clinical trials and research activities with principal investigators and the trial team. Screen patients for eligibility and recruit participants. Obtain informed consent and manage participant enrollment. Collect study samples and perform data entry. Maintain study database and manage electronic case report forms (eCRFs). Liaise with ID and treating clinical teams. Follow up with study participants and schedule visits. Ensure trial completion in accordance with ICH GCP guidelines. Support other non‑ID clinical trials and research projects as needed. About you Registered Nurse (RGON or R.Comp) with a minimum of 3 years post‑registration experience. Strong clinical assessment skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Highly organised with strong time‑management abilities. Skilled in Microsoft Office and comfortable using digital systems. Understanding of the Treaty of Waitangi and ability to work effectively with Māori and diverse communities. Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team. Preferred Experience in clinical trials or clinical research. Knowledge of ICH GCP guidelines. Experience with electronic CRFs and research databases. Previous experience with quality management. Postgraduate study (or currently undertaking). Teaching or presentation skills. Why Join Us?
