Job Description

Working In NZ Education is seeking a skilled and motivated Secondary Dance Teacher for a permanent position at a well-established secondary school in South Auckland. This is an excellent opportunity to join a diverse, community-focused school with a strong emphasis on student achievement, creative expression, and providing meaningful pathways for learners. We are looking for an experienced teacher with strengths in: Dance teaching across secondary levels (approximately ages 13–18) Delivering both practical and theory-based dance programmes Teaching a range of skills including performance, choreography, and dance analysis Preparing students for senior assessments and qualifications (or equivalent in your home country) Using assessment evidence and past student work to guide teaching and support achievement Building strong foundations in technique, creativity, and dance understanding in younger students Supporting learners across a wide range of abilities, including extension and targeted support Creating engaging, structured, and well-paced lessons that promote confidence and participation Incorporating a variety of dance styles and cultural perspectives The successful candidate will be confident working across different age groups and ability levels, and able to foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking in a dynamic classroom or studio environment. Experience delivering externally assessed or standards-based qualifications (such as NCEA, GCSE, A-levels, or equivalent) will be an advantage.
