Job Description
About the Role This full‑time, 40‑hour per week role with rostered on‑call is based at the Grafton site in Auckland City Hospital. We are looking for an experienced Medical Laboratory Scientist in flow cytometry to join the Haematology Flow Cytometry team at LabPlus. The position leads diagnostic immunophenotyping laboratory testing for blood and bone marrow, including diagnostic immunophenotyping and minimal residual disease (MRD). You will work in a team of Medical Laboratory Scientists and Technical Specialists, with oversight from a Scientific Leader, Laboratory Haematologists, and a Section Leader. Requirements include participation in an on‑call roster covering both transplantation and immunophenotyping areas. The job involves using three BD FACSLyric flow cytometers with Infinicyt and FACSuite analysis software. The Cell Markers Section is integral to the haematology and stem cell transplantation service for Auckland City and Starship Hospitals, with accreditation from the Children's Oncology Group and FACT. A range of tests for immune disorders are also performed under immunology oversight. About you • You have experience working in a clinical flow cytometry laboratory service.• You are interested in developing and adapting to evolving technologies.• You possess a working knowledge of computer applications and experience setting up flow cytometry assays.• You are proactive, forward‑thinking, and pride yourself on high‑quality work with strong attention to detail and organisational skills.• You communicate clearly, enjoy teaching and collaboration, and remain calm and flexible in a busy laboratory environment.• You have provisional or full registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
