The focus is on handling complaints against government agencies, undertaking investigations and inspections, and encouraging good administration. Public confidence in government institutions is under pressure. The Office of the Ombudsman in a constitutionally independent role is critical to the success of good administration. About the team The Learning and Capability team is responsible for building and enhancing organisational capability through capability frameworks, leadership development and learning pathways. The team is also responsible for developing learning for use by external audiences. The team is made up of two Senior roles, three Learning Designers and two Learning Coordinators. About the role We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Learning and Capability team as a Learning Coordinator. Reporting to the Manager of Learning and Capability, you will provide high‑quality administration and coordination support for the Office’s learning and induction initiatives. Working closely with the other Learning Coordinator and our Learning and Capability team, you will play a key part in ensuring our learning programmes run smoothly and that staff across the Office have access to the development opportunities they need to deliver high‑quality outcomes. You will coordinate the scheduling and logistics of internal and external learning activities, maintain accurate training records, and act as a point of contact for queries from public sector agencies and other external stakeholders. You will also support the continuous improvement of our induction process and assist with the effective use of our learning management system (Te Puna Matauranga). This is a fixed‑term role, until 31March2027, while the current incumbent is on secondment. About you To be successful in this role you will have: Experience in a similar coordination or administration role, ideally within a learning and development, HR or similar environment. Excellent time management and organisation skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to work effectively and independently across multiple projects and activities in a fast‑paced environment. Strong relationship management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
