Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Principal English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts Isolation Allowance -Cat1 (Primary), Staffing Funding Component (Principal), Leadership in Literacy and Numeracy Lake Rotoiti School invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced educators for the position of teaching principal. The successful applicant will lead a school with an anticipated roll of 17 students from Years 0‑8 and will be supported by a full‑time teacher aide (subject to Ministry staffing entitlement). The preferred start date is 28 January 2027. The successful applicant will be familiar with the New Zealand Curriculum, assessment practices, and reporting requirements. Community consultation has identified that we value a leader who will: Foster positive attitudes towards learning Recognise and build on students’ strengths Maintain high expectations for academic achievement Build strong relationships with students, staff, whānau, and the wider community We are also seeking a principal who values environmental education and can help students develop an appreciation of the unique natural surroundings in which they live and learn. This is a rare opportunity to live and work in a stunning alpine setting. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to reside in a board‑owned schoolhouse in the picturesque village of St Arnaud, located on the edge of Nelson Lakes National Park. They will enjoy teaching and leading within a supportive, engaged, and well‑resourced community. St Arnaud is situated approximately one hour from both Nelson and Blenheim and is the gateway to the northern reaches of the Southern Alps.
