St Matthew's Collegiate (Masterton) Wellington Teacher in Charge of Music and Drama Full time, Permanent Secondary (Years 7–15) / wharekura, Certificated teacher The arts St Matthew’s Collegiate School seeks an experienced and inspiring educator to lead our music and drama department as teacher in charge. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner to lead a well‑established programme, model excellence in performance and teaching, and foster high levels of student engagement and achievement. The successful applicant will: Demonstrate a high level of musical competency, including the ability to confidently accompany on both piano and organ. Be able to support worship, assemblies, and school event through skilled accompaniment. Demonstrate effective leadership experience in a New Zealand secondary school setting. Be a skilled classroom practitioner who leads by example through active involvement in music and/or drama performance and direction. Have strong curriculum knowledge and a commitment to high‑quality teaching and learning. Use data to inform practice and improve student outcomes. Build positive relationships with students, staff, whānau, and the wider community. Contribute to the co‑curricular life of the school, including productions, performances, and events. Play additional instruments and are able to contribute to a board music programme. Bring experience in directing ensembles, bands, or choirs. A willingness to uphold and actively support the Anglican Special Character of the school is essential.
