Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Deputy principal Hauora, Hangarau, Ngā Reo, Ngā Toi, Te Reo Māori, Te Reo Pākehā, Tikanga ā-iwi, Pāngarau, Pťtaiao 1 x Management Unit, 2 x RRR, MITA We are seeking an inspiring, visionary leader for the permanent position of Kaiako Matua Māori/Teaching Deputy Principal. As a small, semi‑rural kura with deep ties to Te Taoú and Ngāti Whātua o Kaipara, we are entering an exciting phase of growth. The role This critical senior leadership role focuses on leading the pedagogical transition and maintenance of our Māori medium classes from Level 2 Bilingual toward Level 1 Rumaki (Full Immersion). You will provide strategic oversight for the expansion of this area from two to three classes and ensure the Woodhill School Marautanga remains a living document reflecting the tikanga of Whiti te Rā Reweti Marae. As deputy principal, you will be the primary professional partner to the tumuaki, contributing to school‑wide strategic planning and deputising in their absence. We are committed to professional growth and will mentor the successful appointee for future leadership. Expertise Current NZ teacher registration and relevant teaching qualifications. Proven leadership experience in primary/intermediate settings with a deep understanding of Te Ao Māori. Proficiency in Te Reo Māori suitable for leading a Level 1 Rumaki environment. Expertise in leading immersion transitions and modeling exemplary responsive pedagogies. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with iwi, hapū, and community stakeholders.
