Job Description
The Senior IT Architect is a subject‑matter expert responsible for designing, validating, and overseeing the delivery of IT infrastructure solutions that support transport mobility systems. The role engages across technical and business teams and acts as a trusted advisor to stakeholders. Responsibilities Lead the design and review of end‑to‑end infrastructure solutions, including compute, storage, networks, and data protection for business‑critical systems. Define system requirements, architecture, and integration approaches aligned to operational and business needs. Drive system‑level design, functional partitioning, and architecture definition. Continuously improve cloud and infrastructure environments, including cost optimisation and financial management. Ensure high availability, resiliency, and scalability across all platforms. Oversee implementation of backup, restore, and disaster‑recovery strategies. Lead the design and implementation of new solutions in collaboration with Engineering, DevOps, and cross‑functional teams. Work closely with Release and Change Management to plan, document, and execute deployments with appropriate rollback strategies. Participate in change review and approval processes, ensuring compliance with established policies. Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineers and support teams. Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, DevOps, V&V) and external partners to align outcomes. Develop strong client relationships and act as a trusted technical advisor. Contribute to bids, tenders, and variation proposals, including detailed designs and cost estimates. Support continuous improvement initiatives across infrastructure and operations. Comply with Cubic’s Quality Management System, Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies, security procedures, and Human Resources procedures. Other duties as requested. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, IT or a related discipline. 8–10 years’ experience in IT infrastructure, including high‑performance cloud environments. Strong architecture experience across servers, storage, networks, and applications. Advanced expertise in Azure and AWS, including automation and cloud‑native services. Proven ability to develop detailed infrastructure designs and cost estimates for new customer solutions. Advanced knowledge of high availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies. Experience with advanced network topologies (e.g., load balancers, firewalls, virtual networks). Familiarity with call centre technologies (ACD/PBX, CTI, IVR). Strong experience in performance system tuning and performance optimisation. Knowledge of implementation and configuration of monitoring and alerting systems. Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills. Strong stakeholder management, communication (written and verbal), and influencing capabilities. Well‑developed interpersonal skills, including the capacity to develop and maintain a rapport with stakeholders at all levels of an organisation. Self‑motivated with the ability to work autonomously and within teams. Adaptable and effective in dynamic, fast‑paced matrix environments. Detail‑oriented with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement. Positive, proactive approach focused on delivering outcomes. Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
