Working within the Infrastructure & Investment Group (IIG), you will partner closely with the Project Director to provide construction leadership, assurance and strategic oversight across planning, methodology, safety, delivery performance and programme outcomes.You will operate at the interface between clinical, operational, commercial and construction delivery, working with Programme and Project Directors, consultants, contractors and operational stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.From early works through to main build delivery, commissioning and handover, you will bring a strong, experienced construction voice to decision‐making — identifying risk early, guiding delivery partners, and ensuring outcomes meet both immediate programme needs and long‐term health system requirements.This is a rare opportunity to step into a client-side leadership role, working on projects valued up to $1 billion, with genuine influence over safety, quality, programme outcomes and long-term operational performance.Your deep construction knowledge, proven leadership capability, and ability to identify risks early will be essential in guiding delivery partners and ensuring performance across some of New Zealand's most significant public infrastructure investments.**About the Team/Service/ Location**The IIG team are focused on delivering high impact infrastructure investments that support the transformation of New Zealand's health system.You'll work on highly complex operational environments - live hospitals, critical infrastructure and safety‐critical facilities, giving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes.The team understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.iving support, oversight and assurance across projects and programmes, the team understand that safe, fit for purpose health facilities, sites and equipment are essential for a well-functioning health system that improves the health of all New Zealanders.**About you**You are a senior construction leader with significant experience delivering large‐scale, complex vertical builds, ideally within healthcare or similarly high‐risk, operational environments. You bring deep expertise across construction methodology, sequencing, safety leadership, risk management and contractor performance.You are commercially astute, comfortable working with complex contracts, and confident providing challenge where required. You understand New Zealand's construction standards, building codes and regulatory frameworks, and you bring a calm, authoritative presence to high‐scrutiny environments.Above all, you are motivated by the opportunity to lead work that matters - applying your experience to projects that serve New Zealanders now and into the future.**You Will Bring*** A relevant post‐graduate qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.* 10+ years' experience managing construction delivery for large‐scale vertical infrastructure projects, preferably in healthcare.* Extensive experience working with or for Tier 1 construction companies on complex, high‐value builds.* Strong knowledge of NZS 3910, 3916 and other construction contract forms, with experience managing variations, claims, and contractor performance.* In‐depth understanding of NZ building codes, safety regulations, and compliance requirements.* Strong risk management capability, including early identification and mitigation.* Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.**Working for Health New Zealand**Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
