About the Job We’re looking for an experienced Northern Treatment Plant Engineer to join our team in Whitianga . Relocation support available! The Role Involves Overseeing daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance. Monitoring and managing resource consents and drinking water standards, ensuring full compliance with client and regulatory requirements. Leading troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant efficiency and service delivery. Promoting a strong safety culture and ensuring all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards are met. Actively pursuing professional development and applying new technologies or methods to improve operational outcomes. Working closely with the treatment plant operators to ensure the plants are operating at their optimum capacity and meeting all resource consents and drinking water standards. What You’ll Need Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in the three waters industry, with a solid understanding of treatment operations. A degree in Environmental, Civil, Chemical, or Process Engineering (or equivalent), and a genuine commitment to ongoing learning and development. Working knowledge of SCADA systems and the plant and equipment used in treatment processes. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with a proactive, solutions‑focused mindset. High attention to detail and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental standards. Full Class 1 driver’s licence, with confidence driving manual vehicles. Be available after hours to assist with any treatment plant issues that may arise. All preferred candidates will be required to complete pre‑employment checks to the employer’s satisfaction, including but not limited to a Ministry of Justice criminal conviction report, medical assessment, and drug and alcohol testing.
