Job Description

Job Description To provide general support to the geological technical services department at the Waihi Underground Operation. Suitable physical fitness is a key requirement of the position. Basic computer competency and aptitude with Microsoft Office suite. Key Tasks and Responsibilities Comply with all site safe work practices and instructions. Sample and photograph core at the underground and surface core logging facilities. Assist geologists with underground mapping and general ore control duties. Sample collection, collation and transportation. Dispatch of samples to the analytical laboratory. Carry out sample storage activities. Photograph underground development and assist with creating 3D scans of the underground workings. Monitor stocks of consumables associated with underground ore control activities. Provide care and maintenance of vehicles and equipment used in duties. Assist Geotechnical department with pull testing, MBPX and seismic monitoring, and other tasks as required. Assist Survey department with CALS operation and other tasks as required. Assist Engineering department with underground tasks as required. Qualifications A tertiary degree in Geology is preferred but not essential. Full and Current Driver Licence (ability to drive manual vehicles is essential). Experience Previous experience working in mining operations preferred. An understanding of geological processes preferred.
