Job Description

Tutor/Senior Tutor Positions (Plant and Horticulture Science & Agribusiness) The School of Agriculture and Environment at Massey University is seeking applicants to fill three Tutor/Senior Tutor positions within our teaching team. These fixed‐term, three‑year roles are part of a cluster hire in plant and horticulture science and agri‑business and are integrated into the Joint Education Institute (JEI) program between Massey University and Northwest Agriculture and Forestry University (NWAFU), China. The purpose of these positions is to support and contribute to teaching within the disciplines of Horticultural and Plant Science and Agribusiness, with a particular focus on undergraduate education. All instruction will be conducted in English. In collaboration with SAE Manawatu and JEI academic staff, create and adapt material and curricula for courses to be taught at NWAFU as part of the JEI, using existing SES undergraduate courses and tailoring them to the Chinese learning context. Develop and co‑develop online digital learning resources—technical guides, fact sheets, short demonstration videos, self‑assessment quizzes, interactive modules, and laboratory materials and worksheets—for JEI students whose first language is not English. The resources should be pitched at an appropriate level for these learners. Develop and populate individual online learning sites on the Massey University STREAM platform for each JEI course, and update them as required. Adapt the existing 12‑week semester curriculum to NWAFU's 16‑week teaching semester, ensuring content, activities, and assessments are aligned with the extended period. Support JEI teaching staff at NWAFU to ensure learning material is fit for purpose and contribute to ongoing resource review and refresh within the online learning environment. Participate in feedback, evaluation, and revision processes under the supervision of SAE and JEI staff after courses are first taught, including potential travel to NWAFU. Successful candidates will have a minimum of an undergraduate degree in a field relevant to the JEI programme in horticulture, plant science, and agribusiness. Preference will be given to applicants with a discipline‑relevant postgraduate qualification, experience in tertiary level teaching in English, and experience in using online teaching resources. Successful candidates will receive: 6.75% employer contribution to the NZ UniSaver Superannuation Scheme. Massey University's standard annual leave entitlement, together with the five Massey University holiday days each year. A subsidised Southern Cross Healthcare plan available for appointees and their whānau/family. The salary will be in the range of NZD$66,299 – NZD$103,956, depending on experience. Closing on: 2026-07-20 (Pacific/Auckland) For further enquiries, please contact Professor Paul Kenyon at [emailprotected] . #J-18808-Ljbffr
