The Role As a Power Technician, you will work across electricity distribution primary and secondary systems, delivering installation, maintenance, fault finding, testing and commissioning services across the Otago region. The role involves high‑voltage switching and permitting, cable fault location and testing, SCADA and protection work, and responding to faults as part of an after‑hours standby roster. You’ll work closely with Team Leaders, Project Managers and fellow technicians, contributing to safe, efficient and high‑quality outcomes for customers and the wider community. About You We’re looking for a motivated and safety‑focused technician who takes pride in their workmanship and enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. You’ll thrive in this role if you are technically capable, organised, and comfortable working in dynamic operational environments. Strong communication skills, a proactive attitude and a commitment to health and safety are essential for success. Critical Qualifications Required Appropriate Electrical Registration Current New Zealand Practicing License Full Class 1 New Zealand Driver’s License Skills and Experience Required 4+ years’ experience in the high‑voltage electricity distribution industry Proven experience working in zone substations and HV environments Competency in HV switching and permitting activities Experience with protection relays, SCADA systems and electrical test instruments Ability to interpret construction drawings and complete accurate as‑built documentation Strong problem‑solving skills, computer literacy and a collaborative, team‑focused mindset Why Delta?
