Job Description
Part time, fixed term, FTTE up to 0.2, Start Date: 21/07/2026, End Date: 28/08/2026. The role is a session facilitator working alongside members and tamariki to guide activities, facilitate learning using child‑led play and positive guidance, support planning and assessment, and positively support the Playcentre education programme. Formed in 1941, Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi o Aotearoa – Playcentre Aotearoa is a licensed early childhood education provider and charitable trust that empowers parents as first educators. Playcentre seeks to empower whānau and tamariki to work, play, learn, and grow together, operating across more than 400 centres nationwide. About the role Duties include, but are not limited to: Engage children in playful, stimulating, and imaginative experiences that encourage exploration, problem‑solving, and independence. Foster strong, responsive relationships with tamariki, recognising their individual strengths, interests, and cultural diversity. Promote inclusive learning by encouraging communication, expression, and the development of positive learning dispositions. Commencing 20 July 2026. Tuesday and Thursday 9:15 am – 12:30 pm, 6.5 hours per week. Fixed term, school term‑time only position ending 28 August 2026. About you The ideal candidate will be able to support parents and caregivers to confidently run sessions, model Playcentre philosophy, and enhance children’s learning, while fostering a strong whānau‑led culture by building members’ knowledge, confidence, and leadership. You will also have: Playcentre Course 3 or higher, or a Level 4+ Early Childhood qualification. Strong knowledge of Te Whāriki, ECE regulations, and a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Passion for Playcentre philosophy and empowering whānau to feel included and engaged. Confidence using technology to support learning and administration. Minimum Course 3 of the Playcentre Education Diploma or equivalent ECE qualification (L 4 or above desired). Hold a current First Aid Certificate or be prepared to complete this. NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
