Role Overview Te Manawa is more than a library. It is a vibrant community hub where people come together to connect, learn, create and belong. As Auckland's first fully integrated community hub, Te Manawa brings together library services, creative spaces, community programmes, bookable venues, customer services and a wide range of activities that reflect the diversity of our local community. We're looking for an experienced and people-focused Operations Specialist to help support the day-to-day operation of the hub. Working alongside the Operations Lead, you'll be a key senior presence on site, ensuring customers receive exceptional service and our teams are supported to deliver great experiences every day. You will be supporting our Library and Council Service Assistants, coordinating venue hire activity, maintaining strong relationships with community groups and ensuring operational issues are identified and resolved quickly and effectively. Permanent four-day-per-week (32 hours) position based at Te Manawa Community Hub. Working days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Responsibilities Lead operations in a busy, people-focused environment. Co‑ordinate venue hire activity and support Library and Council Service Assistants. Maintain strong relationships with community groups. Identify and resolve operational issues quickly and effectively. Qualifications Experience in a supervisory, duty manager or senior customer service role. Experience coaching, mentoring and developing staff. Calm, resilient and confident making decisions in a busy public environment. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Highly organised and able to balance multiple priorities. Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset. Experience working with diverse communities and creating welcoming, inclusive spaces. Understanding of, or willingness to grow knowledge of, te ao Māori and Auckland Council's commitment to Māori outcomes. Benefits Option to buy an additional week’s annual leave.
