Our opportunity We have a fantastic opportunity for a seasoned and people‑focused HR leader to lead our People Services function. This team includes Senior People Partners, a Principal Employment Relations Lead and Remuneration & Benefits Lead. The teams focus is on delivering consistent, trusted, and high‑impact people services across K inga Ora business groups. The services they deliver enable leaders to manage their teams with fairness, legal compliance, and confidence. The Manager People Services will be responsible for leading and governing the design, implementation and ongoing interpretation of people policies, ensuring K inga Ora remains compliant with employment legislation and collective agreements. The role reports to the Chief People and Assurance Officer and will partner with senior executives and strategic business partners to provide trusted, senior level advice in all aspects of the role; including but not limited to: Industrial and employment relations, change consultations and business as usual activities. Maintaining the People Services function as a credible, fair, and reliable partner for day‑to‑day employment matters is a critical part of this role. By delivering expert advisory services, clear organisational positions and robust frameworks, the position safeguards, and strengthens organisational integrity and risk management. What you will bring Substantial senior leadership experience in people services within large, complex organisation(s), preferably within the public sector or a highly regulated environment. Demonstrable capability in leading, managing and developing high‑performing people services practitioners and supporting resources within centre‑led or shared services environments. Proven ability to partner and provide trusted advice at executive and senior leadership levels. Highly developed proficiency in employee relations, New Zealand employment law and people policy and strategic frameworks. Strong understanding of remuneration and benefits frameworks and governance. Transformation mindset and the ability to see root causes beyond the people function. Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Employment Relations, Law, or a related discipline.
