Location & Contract Kenepuru Birthing Unit, Kenepuru Community Hospital. Permanent, Part Time 0.6 FTE. Rostered and Rotating. About the Role This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a midwifery-led environment where autonomy, partnership, and whānau-centred care are at the heart of everything we do. About the Team & Service Location Based at Kenepuru / Porirua Birthing Unit. We are a small dynamic and friendly team that values collaboration and continuity. This role gives you a chance to work closely with women, whānau, and LMC colleagues in a supportive setting. You will be working in partnership with LMCs, providing postnatal care and labour and birth support. Coordinating with colleagues at Wellington Hospital to ensure seamless care across the services. There is opportunity to expand your midwifery scope, including antenatal assessments, organising and managing Anti‑D and antenatal vaccination clinics. Unit includes: Two beautiful birthing rooms, including a low‑stimulus space with a birthing couch and a dedicated birthing pool room. Six postnatal rooms with ensuites – two with double beds to support whānau staying together. About you An experienced, flexible, organised midwife who thrives in a changing environment. Able to support LMCs with antenatal assessments and labour & birth (recent experience in this area is advantageous). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Confidence and clinical assurance to manage emergency situations. A passion for making a difference in the community.
