Job Description
We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our team on a full-time basis in East Tamaki. The Heavy Diesel Mechanic provides high‑quality mechanical servicing, maintenance, repairs, and overhauls on diesel vehicles, heavy machinery, and equipment used in quarrying, mining, transport, and construction‑related industries. This includes diagnostics, breakdown repairs, component rebuilds, and major overhauls performed safely, efficiently, and to IMG’s quality standards. Key Duties & Responsibilities The successful candidate will be required to: Raise vehicles, machinery, and heavy components using approved lifting equipment. Conduct inspections to identify faults, wear, or mechanical issues. Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results to determine repair requirements. Carry out repairs, servicing, adjustments, and overhauls on heavy diesel equipment. Arrange, manage, and install required parts and materials. Complete repairs to a high standard, ensuring machinery is safe, reliable, and compliant. Maintain accurate job cards, repair notes, and parts usage documentation. Ensure all work is completed on time and meets customer expectations. Deliver “right‑first‑time” workmanship at all times. Workshop Duties Maintain a tidy, organised, and safe workshop environment. Ensure tools and equipment are kept in good condition and used properly. Support general housekeeping and workshop efficiency initiatives. Qualifications & Experience Trade qualification in Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Automotive Engineering (Heavy), or recognised overseas equivalent. Demonstrated experience performing repairs, diagnostics, servicing, or rebuilds on heavy diesel machinery. Ability to read and follow technical manuals, drawings, and work instructions. Employment Details Employment type: Full‑time, permanent Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week Pay rate: $40 - $44 per hour, depending on skills and experience Start date: Immediate start available The successful applicant must be legally eligible to work in New Zealand at the time of commencement A pre‑employment drug and alcohol test is required. #J-18808-Ljbffr
