# Equipment Management Group Leader, Maritime at NZ Defence Force, Auckland## Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this role**Mō te tūnga | About the role**You will be leading the Maritime Equipment Management Group as part of the Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) within NZDF. You will be shaping, influencing and leading the delivery of responsive, cost effective, asset management to enable the NZDF to meet its strategic and operational objectives.A typical day may include:* Providing strong people management and leadership through coaching and mentoring of diverse teams.* Overseeing the management of resources for maritime equipment* Contributing practical input across all phases of the NZDF capability life cycle including definition, delivery (equipment acquisition), in-service, and disposal.* Enabling the development of asset management policy aligned with NZDF's Maritime legislation.* Managing operating and capital expenditure, contracts and stakeholder relations.* Driving innovative, fit-for-purpose asset and commodity management solutions through creative and strategic thinking.We are a great bunch of people who manage equipment that is critical to New Zealand's defence. With the ability to build strong relationships across all levels of the organisation and industry, you will also need to be a strong communicator and influencer to interact, negotiate and present to senior leadership.Ideally, you will also have:* Proven experience in people management and leading high performing teams.* Experience in asset management or logistics related industry, with an understanding of Integrated Logistics Support and lifecycle management, ideally within a maritime environment.* Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a methodical and logical approach.* Demonstrated ability to operate interchangeably and effectively at both strategic and operational levels, with a sound understanding and practical application of risk management.* Understanding of project management methodologies and practices.* Ability to interpret and communicate technical, industry specific information to a wide range of stakeholders.* Proven financial management experience, including budget planning and contract management.* A commitment to excellence, strong attention to detail and exceptional facilitation skills.**Please note:** The successful applicant will be required to hold a NZ Driver's license, as well as an ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.**Nōu te rourou | What's in it for you**Your skills and dedication deserve recognition, and NZDF delivers with competitive pay matched to your experience.
