Leader of Learning (Teaching Assistant Principal) Full time, Permanent Primary and intermediate (Years 1–8) / kura tuatahi, Assistant principal English, Health and physical education, Learning languages, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Social sciences, Technology, Te reo Māori, The arts 2 Permanent Units Kaharoa School is seeking experienced and positive teachers to join our leadership team. We are advertising two roles: assistant principal and team leader. Following the promotion of one of our deputy principals, we reviewed our leadership structure and are moving forward with two leader of learning roles: senior school and primary school. These are genuine teaching and leadership roles, and we will also require two further teaching staff for 2027 as these appointments are made. The assistant principal will be one of our leaders of learning and will hold an additional school-wide responsibility such as relief coordination, events coordination, or another delegated area. This is a teaching role with CRT release, 2 permanent units, and 2 hours of leadership release per week. As leaders of learning, the assistant principal and team leader will model effective classroom practice, support shared planning and assessment, encourage team members, strengthen student culture, promote school values, support curriculum implementation, and coordinate team organisation such as camps, trips, assemblies, timetables, reporting, and other responsibilities. Our distributed leadership model is designed to strengthen teaching and learning, support positive student culture, manage key school systems, provide opportunities for students, and build leadership capacity. We are looking for people with strong teaching and learning practice, assessment and behaviour management, organisation, digital skills, and New Zealand teaching experience. Leadership experience such as team leadership, WSL/ASL, curriculum leadership, or another relevant role would be an advantage.
