Posted Thursday, 4 June 2026 at 10:00 am About the job We’re looking for an experienced Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator to join our team in Thames! Roles and Responsibilities Operate and maintain wastewater treatment plants to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance. Carry out routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and compliance monitoring to meet all regulatory and contractual requirements. Conduct sampling, testing, and reporting in line with drinking water standards and resource consent conditions. Promote a strong Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality culture, ensuring all work is completed safely and to high standards. What you’ll need 2–3 years’ practical experience operating water and/or wastewater treatment plants, or a strong interest in developing your skills in this space. Hold a New Zealand Certificate in Drinking Water Treatment (Level 4). Good understanding of resource consent conditions, drinking water standards, and environmental compliance, with a commitment to learning and growth. Confident with sampling, testing, and reporting processes, and comfortable using digital systems such as SCADA to monitor performance. Highly organised with great time management and problem‑solving skills, and a strong focus on safety and quality. A supportive team player who values collaboration, inclusion, and continuous improvement. Full Class 1 driver’s licence and confident driving manual vehicles.
