Job Description
We’re looking for a capable and motivated Project Manager with a technical background to take ownership of contracting projects from inception through to commissioning and close‑out. This role offers variety, technical depth, and the opportunity to work across multiple electricity networks or assets with different customer standards. About the Role This is an end‑to‑end delivery role. You’ll lead projects through initiation, planning, execution, control, and commissioning, ensuring safety, quality, programme and financial targets are achieved. You will use your technical background to support design reviews, estimating accuracy, problem solving, and continuous improvement efforts across project delivery. Role Responsibilities Deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget. Provide accurate estimates, quotes and manage finance of active projects. Conduct thorough design and pricing reviews following handover from Estimating. Create detailed and complete Work Packs for field staff. Plan efficiently to maximise resource utilisation. Scope and coordinate materials and contract resources accurately. Maintain strong customer liaison and stakeholder engagement. Be well organized, understanding key project deliverables and milestones. Act as a technical specialist to support field crews across multiple networks, including industrial clients. Take ownership of timely completion of actions allocated to you. Manage outage planning. Complete project close‑out, financial reconciliation and documentation. Participate in peer reviews, tender close‑out meetings and lessons‑learned sessions. Qualifications Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, National Certificate in Electrical Engineering Level 4, or equivalent. Minimum 2 years’ relevant project management or technical experience in a related industry. Strong knowledge of LV and HV distribution networks and Zone Substations. Understanding of NZ electricity industry standards and safety legislation. Financial literacy and ability to manage project budgets confidently. Experience building and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships. Proficiency in Excel, Word and Microsoft Project. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proactive mindset, strong time management, multitasking ability and sound decision‑making. Great attitude and commitment to team success.
