Job Description
Job Summary Environmental Scientist intern – 12‑week paid internship (mid‑November to mid‑February 2027) at AECOM in Christchurch, NewZealand. The role is full‑time on site, offering real‑world experience in environmental and ecological assessment, data analysis, mapping, field investigations, and sustainability integration. Responsibilities Apply academic knowledge to research, data analysis, mapping, and fieldwork under the guidance of experienced scientists. Assist with environmental/ecological assessments including terrestrial, wetland, and freshwater investigations, reporting, preparation, planning, data collection and presentation. Support multi‑disciplinary project teams (scientists, planners, engineers, drafters, administrators, contractors) and collaborate on project‑related activities. Collect and collate sustainability data, apply assessment tools, and document project actions and benefits to embed sustainability and resilience outcomes. Receive one‑on‑one guidance from a dedicated buddy throughout the internship. Program Benefits 12‑week paid internship (mid‑November to mid‑February). Qualifications Current penultimate year of a Bachelor’s or Postgraduate degree in Environmental Science, Ecology or a related discipline. Strong communication and teamwork skills, proactive attitude, adaptability, professionalism, and integrity. Willingness to work full‑time hours from 16November2026 to 19February2027. Full NewZealand driving licence (preferred). Full working rights in Australia and NewZealand. Commitment and Working Rights The internship requires full‑time on‑site attendance at AECOM Christchurch.
