Surgical Registrar - September 2026

About the Role We are seeking a Surgical Registrar to join our Surgical Department at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers Memorial Hospital, commencing 3 August 2026. Registrars manage the day‑to‑day care of inpatients under a designated Consultant and assess and treat patients referred to the hospital acutely with surgical problems. Location and Services The hospital is a 400‑bed secondary level public facility in Hastings, serving over 180,000 people. It offers acute and elective care across a wide range of specialties, including paediatrics, obstetrics &gynaecology, and is supported by a regional ICU and flight team with tertiary support for cardiac intervention, cardiothoracic surgery, plastics and neurosurgery from Wellington. Qualifications Resident Medical Officer (RMO) PGY3 or above. Completed a placement within Surgery at Registrar level. Registered or eligible for general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
