Job Description
At Farmers, one of New Zealand's most iconic retail brands, we're looking for an experienced Garment Technician to join our Quality Assurance team. Primarily with a focus on Kidswear, however there is also the opportunity to work on specific Womenswear portfolios. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about creating high-quality, comfortable, safe, and well-fitting garments for customers. You will play a key role in ensuring our apparel ranges meet Farmers' standards for fit, construction, quality, and compliance. Working closely with internal teams and suppliers, you'll use your technical expertise to deliver products that Farmers’ customers can trust and love. Key responsibilities Apply your expertise in pattern making, grading, and garment construction across our Apparel ranges. Conduct mannequin fittings, identify fit and construction issues, and provide practical solutions to achieve consistency and quality. Collaborate with suppliers to support and monitor manufacturing quality and performance. Ensure all garments meet New Zealand compliance requirements, including garment safety, fire labelling, and Fair Trading Act obligations. Utilise systems and software such as Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel). Experience with Sharepoint, Gerber and digital pattern design will be highly regarded. Apply your knowledge of fabrics, trims, performance requirements, and testing standards relevant to apparel product range. About you You are an experienced Garment Technician with a strong understanding of Adults & Kids wear and the unique considerations involved in designing and producing garments. You are solutions-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about delivering products that are safe, durable, comfortable, and fit for purpose. You enjoy working collaboratively, challenging conventional thinking, and using your technical expertise to continuously improve product quality and customer experience.
