This is a great opportunity for a safety‑focused and proactive tradesperson to work within a structured maintenance framework, applying work management processes to ensure safe, efficient and reliable asset performance while working a balanced lifestyle roster. Reporting to the relevant Leader and working within a collaborative and high‑performing team, you will be: Performing planned and breakdown maintenance on electrical assets Identifying defects and raising notifications through RTBS systems Completing work orders and capturing asset performance feedback Supporting defect elimination and contributing to maintenance improvements Following work management processes and job instructions to a high standard Responding to unplanned events to minimise disruption to power supply Working closely with operations and engineering teams on sustaining improvements Maintaining high voltage operating and safety competencies About You A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Hold (or be eligible to obtain) a current electrical practising licence Experience working with electrical systems, ideally within HV environments Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot faults efficiently Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with stakeholders A proactive approach to maintenance, continuous improvement, and asset care What We Offer A safety‑focused and inclusive working environment Competitive salary with an annual short‑term incentive plan (STIP) Employer superannuation on gross salary through the NZAS retirement scheme Relocation support for you and your immediate family Free transport between Invercargill and Tiwai Point Annual shift allowance paid monthly (where applicable) Additional pay when taking annual leave Southern Cross health insurance for you and your eligible family Access to additional wellbeing support, including on‑demand healthcare and physiotherapy services Uniforms and laundry services provided for all employees Opportunities for internal career progression across Rio Tinto in Australia and globally Participation in the Rio Tinto employee share programme Where you’ll be working Located at Tiwai Point, near Invercargill in Southland, New Zealand, the operation is set within a unique and family‑friendly community, offering a great lifestyle with access to outdoor activities, beaches, and national parks.
