About the Role Our Cardiology Nurse Practitioner will provide advanced, patient‑centred care across the continuum of cardiology services within Waitematā District, with a particular focus on heart failure. The clinician will function both autonomously and collaboratively, delivering expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management for patients with complex and chronic cardiac conditions. The role is integral to improving access, equity, and health outcomes for the Waitematā population by supporting timely, high‑quality care across acute, inpatient, outpatient, and community settings. A key focus is the proactive management of heart failure and other cardiology conditions to reduce avoidable hospital admissions, support early intervention, and enable safe transitions of care between hospital and community services. About the Team / Service / Location This role works across North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals. You will work in partnership with patients / tangata whaiora and their whānau, the multidisciplinary team, primary care providers, and Māori health services to deliver holistic, culturally safe care that reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles and promotes equitable outcomes for Māori. About you You’re a clinical leader who inspires others and drives excellence in cardiology. Registration as a Registered Nurse in New Zealand with a current Annual Practising Certificate Nurse Practitioner as approved and endorsed by the Nursing Council of New Zealand A minimum of 5 years acute nursing experience, including contemporary Cardiology experience A master’s degree in nursing, including a prescribing practicum A calm, adaptable approach with a strong can‑do attitude and commitment to service improvement Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
