About The Role We have an opportunity for a talented Senior Façade Engineer to join the growing BG&E Facades team. To succeed in this role, you will have proven technical understanding of façade structures, secondary structures, and refurbishments of existing façade systems. We’re looking for someone to join us in any of our offices in Auckland, Christchurch or Whangārei. Key Technical Responsibilities Provide façade consultancy services for NZ projects. Responsible for the design, management, delivery and implementation of complex façade projects. Deliver projects of the highest quality and provide cost‑effective solutions that are well considered and ultimately the best outcome for the client. Review contractor submissions, shop drawings and calculations. Undertake materials and products research, liaising with suppliers and contractors. Communicate clearly and professionally at a high level working with developers and architects. Have a clear understanding of the key Standards and Codes to the relevant line of work, be proficient in New Zealand codes and currently progress toward Chartered Professional Engineer status. Be responsible for the quality, accuracy and timely completion of your own work. Review and take responsibility for deliverables produced by junior engineers and drafters. Take a lead role in design team/site meetings. Lead and manage the daily correspondence with design team and contractor. Coordinate with other façade teams within BG&E. Report day‑to‑day to Façade Lead. Provide assistance with engineering calculations and reviews alongside H1 thermal analysis as the practice grows within New Zealand. Project Management Lead and manage the façade design as well as the commercial delivery of multiple projects. Assist with project resources and programme. Assist with financial performance of allocated projects. Assist in contract review and any subconsultant engagement. Operations/Business Development Assist the Façade Lead and other leads to carry out business development and build the BG&E facades brand nationally. Assist in identifying and pursuing new opportunities and potential projects with existing clients. Develop proposals and bids on opportunities. Build direct relationships with managers in client organisations. Contribute to internal business improvement activities. About You Degree qualified in Structural or Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or another transferable engineering discipline. Proven experience in a façade design/engineering role, be a Chartered Engineer or working towards chartership. Completed portfolio of good mixture of small, medium and large scale projects with breadth of experience across a range of façade types. Good working knowledge of national and international design codes, technical guidance and local council compliance pathways. Excellent knowledge of façade systems and construction techniques, procurement routes and risk assessment. Versatile skillset including detail design, structural and building physics, testing, inspections and investigations and site experience. Excellent people skills and confident at navigating complicated situations. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Ability to motivate individuals to work collaboratively as a team.
