Based in the Waikato District, this is a rotational, permanent full‑time position (80 hours per fortnight / 1 FTE). Availability is required between Monday and Sunday, as some rotations include weekends. About the Role As a successful candidate you will play a key role in assessing patients and designing treatment programmes to manage patient recovery. You will recommend suitable discharge plans to help patients progress along the continuum of care and optimise hospital flow. The role involves all aspects of physiotherapy practice in an academic tertiary hospital setting in one of NewZealand's fastest‑growing regions. Key responsibilities Delegate appropriately to Assistant Health Aides (AHA) and manage non‑clinical responsibilities in a timely manner. Prioritise, efficiently and effectively manage own clinical caseload. Work as part of the team and assist in other clinical areas as service needs demand, supporting the wider team during periods of high referral volume, vacancy or annual leave. Identify and collaborate on quality improvement and service development. After appropriate orientation and training, supervise third‑year observational students and, for more experienced staff, supervise fourth‑year physiotherapy students. About the Service The Physiotherapy service has approximately ninety staff, including physiotherapists, assistants and administrators, working across a large geographical area – from Waikato Hospital and its secondary hospital in Thames to three rural hospitals in Tokoroa, TeKuiti and Taumaranui, and across community bases in Morrinsville, Matamata, Cambridge and Ngāruawāhia. About you Required attributes, skills and experience: Current NewZealand physiotherapy registration and APC, or new graduates in the process of obtaining their APC. Passion for learning, adaptability to change and eagerness to gain clinical experience across a variety of clinical areas. Evidence‑informed assessment and treatment skills. Excellent time‑management skills. Capability to mentor and train junior clinicians and students. Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of the physiotherapy and wider multidisciplinary team across a variety of environments. Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with patients, their whānau and other health‑care professionals. Applications from new graduates are welcome.
