Logistics Coordinator - Specialised Airfreight

Team Recruitment
Auckland, AUK, NZ Full Time
Reference: 20d667aa12f4f8a8

Job Description

Most airfreight is routine. This isn’t. Our client specialises in one of the most unique categories of cargo in the industry, the international movement of horses. They manage the full journey, from airline bookings and permits through to quarantine coordination and ground transport, for some of the most valuable horses in the world. Every shipment is high-value, time-critical and requires a level of precision and judgement well beyond standard freight. Based at their South Auckland facility, this role sits within the core logistics team, responsible for coordinating international shipments end to end. Day to day this covers airline bookings, permit and compliance documentation, liaising with MPI, overseas agents and airline contacts, and direct communication with clients throughout the movement process. No two shipments look the same, and the work demands genuine attention to detail and the ability to manage several moving parts at once without losing accuracy. Standard hours are 8:30am - 5:00pm, however given the nature of the freight handled, out of hours response is part of the role. What we need to see A background in airfreight or freight forwarding is essential. You don’t need any experience with horses, that side of the role can be learned. What matters more is genuine attention to detail, sound judgement under pressure and the ability to manage shifting priorities without losing accuracy. More than anything, we’re looking for someone who wants to build a career rather than fill a role. This is a stable, close-knit business with genuine long term ambitions, and real scope to grow into a more senior position as your experience develops. What’s on offer The chance to work on something genuinely different within the airfreight industry, within a business that has built its reputation over decades and continues to invest in its people. If routine freight has started to feel like a ceiling, this is worth a conversation. #J-18808-Ljbffr
