Job Description
Animation Tutor (Diploma in Animation) Location: Christchurch Full-time | Permanent | Yoobee Christchurch About the role An amazing opportunity to join our growing Yoobee Christchurch campus to support in the delivery of our Diploma in Animation Programme. This role is responsible for the delivery and assessment of courses in the programme. You will be walking into an energetic environment where value is placed on delivering outcomes rather than micro‑managing work and tasks. You will be given autonomy to work in a way that gets the best results and will be expected to take responsibility and make things happen. Responsibilities Deliver course content in an engaging manner Participate in the continuous improvement of course content and teaching resources Deliver assessments and evaluate to prescribed national and local qualification standards Assist with the care and maintenance of classrooms/labs and teaching equipment and resources, including marketing and campus events Record accurate student data, assessment results, attendance, student‑at‑risk and other required documentation Qualifications and Experience Accomplished animation practitioner who is enthusiastic, positive, patient, and motivated self‑starter with a passion for sharing knowledge. Excellent communication and time management skills, ability to build relationships Experience in some or all of the following key discipline skills: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects; Animate or Toonboom; Maya (Animating, Texturing, Modelling); different animation styles and experimental animation; basic modelling, lighting, camera staging, pre‑viz, rendering; breaking down pipelines; concept art / visual communication design theory; character design A Masters level qualification or higher in animation or related field, plus supplementary industry experience Experience with a range of research methodologies and ideally experience supervising research Skills and experience with 3D modelling, texturing and pre‑production skills (design, storyboards, animatics) Experience working in multi‑disciplinary teams, confidence in coordinating and supervising team projects Ability to connect with students through a variety of delivery methods and provide basic pastoral care and support Desire to expand adult teaching skillset as part of professional development Game art and design would be an advantage Commitment to Te Tiriti O Waitangi Benefits Be a part of New Zealand’s largest specialist creative and technology college Birthday leave / one day extra leave for special events Industry‑leading campuses equipped with the latest tech and equipment Rewarding opportunity to support students in their creative industry journey Strong commitment to your professional growth & development Work with the Campus Manager to help the campus grow and be highly successful A fun environment and opportunity to stand out Great work culture that is highly collaborative and supportive We are an equal opportunity employer.
