Job Description

Role Description This full-time, on-site Diagnostic Radiologist role is based in Whangarei and supports comprehensive imaging services for the Northland region. Day-to-day responsibilities include interpreting a wide range of medical imaging studies (such as X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and mammography), providing timely diagnostic reports, and offering clinical guidance to referrers. The role involves participating in multidisciplinary meetings, collaborating closely with other specialists, and contributing to patient management plans. The Diagnostic Radiologist will help ensure high-quality, safe imaging practices, support junior medical staff and imaging technologists with clinical advice, and participate in quality improvement activities. The position may also include on-call duties and involvement in service development to meet the needs of the local community. Qualifications Strong foundation in clinical Medicine , with the ability to integrate imaging findings into patient care. Advanced expertise in Radiology and Medical Imaging , including interpretation of common modalities such as X-ray, CT, MRI, and ultrasound. Competence in specialized imaging domains such as Nuclear Medicine for functional imaging and Mammography for breast imaging and screening services. Relevant medical degree and specialist qualification in Diagnostic Radiology, eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Experience working in hospital-based imaging services, with a commitment to safe, evidence-based practice and continuous professional development. Strong communication and teamwork skills, including the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams and in partnership with diverse communities. Demonstrated commitment to equity, culturally safe practice, and honoring Te Tiriti o Waitangi in clinical decision-making.
