Health Care Assistant - Intensive Care Unit A rewarding opportunity to support critically unwell patients and their whānau within a highly skilled Intensive Care team. About the Role As a Health Care Assistant in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), you will provide essential clinical, technical and clerical support to the nursing and multidisciplinary team, helping ensure safe, high quality care for critically unwell patients. Working under the direction of Registered Nurses, you will assist with delegated patient care activities, supporting patient comfort, dignity and safety in a high acuity environment. This includes assisting with personal care, maintaining a clean and wellorganised clinical environment, and supporting the smooth operation of the unit. You will also contribute to administrative and support tasks such as managing equipment, maintaining supplies and supporting documentation processes. This role requires flexibility, strong teamwork and the ability to remain calm and professional in a fast paced and sometimes emotionally demanding environment. About the Team/Service/Location You will be part of the Intensive Care Unit at Hawkes Bay Fallen Soldier Memorial Hospital, working alongside highly skilled nurses, doctors, allied health professionals and support staff. ICU is a collaborative, fast paced environment where teamwork, communication and attention to detail are critical to delivering safe, high quality care. About you You are caring, resilient and committed to supporting patients and whānau in a highacuity clinical setting. You will have: NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3) Health Assistance, or working towards / willing to commence Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team Calm, professional approach in high pressure situations Strong attention to detail and ability to follow clinical instructions A positive and flexible attitude Commitment to patient dignity, privacy and confidentiality Commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and equitable health outcomes Previous experience in a hospital or acute care environment Experience working in highacuity or critical care settings Confidence working in fastpaced clinical environments Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
