Job Description
Senior Geotechnical Engineer | Invercargill Join our geotechnical team in Southland and help shape the infrastructure, transport and community projects that support New Zealand’s future. As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer, you will provide technical expertise across a diverse portfolio of geotechnical projects, working closely with clients, project teams and regional specialists to deliver practical, high‑quality solutions. Responsibilities Lead geotechnical investigations, analysis, design and consulting services across a variety of infrastructure and development projects. Prepare and review technical reports, design documentation, proposals, fee estimates and project briefs. Manage project delivery, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards. Provide technical guidance and thought leadership while supporting the ongoing development of geotechnical capability within WSP. Develop and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and identifying opportunities for future work. Assist with business development activities, including expressions of interest, proposals, marketing initiatives and client engagement. Support project planning, resource management and project reviews to drive continuous improvement and successful outcomes. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across WSP to deliver integrated solutions for regional and national clients. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline. At least 8 years of consultancy experience within geotechnical engineering. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or actively working towards chartership. Strong technical capability across geotechnical investigations, analysis, design and reporting. Experience managing projects, preparing proposals and delivering high-quality outcomes for clients. Commercial awareness with the ability to manage project budgets, programmes and client expectations. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with a collaborative and client-focused approach. Current full New Zealand driver licence. #J-18808-Ljbffr
