Job Description
1 x Full Time, Fixed Term role until February 2027 Role based at our Ground Floor, 64 Anzac Street, Takapuna site Remuneration starting from $81,206- $97,557 based on experience About the role Youth Justice Social Worker within the team, working with rangatahi, their whānau, police, youth advocates and essential government and community support services to address the underlying factors contributing to offending and reduce the potential for lifelong offending. Responsibilities Work in partnership with rangatahi, whānau, police, youth advocates and government/community support services to address underlying factors contributing to offending. Provide professional written and verbal feedback to courts. Implement bi‑cultural practice and culturally responsive approaches, including a good understanding of Tikanga Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Advise and support children and families in line with the Oranga Tamariki Act and Youth Justice processes. Maintain professional knowledge of New Zealand legislation relating to the safety of children and young people. Qualifications Social Work Qualification with Full Registration and current Annual Practising Certificate with the New Zealand Social Worker Registration Board. Passion for working with youth and ability to build relationships. Experience, knowledge and expertise within Youth Justice or other youth or whānau related field. Excellent relationship building skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Commitment to bi‑cultural practice and culturally responsive approach. Understanding of the Oranga Tamariki Act and Youth Justice processes. Full clean driver’s licence.
