Alcohol and Other Drugs Clinical Leadership Role Whangārei, Northland, New Zealand – Permanent full‑time position. About the Role Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites an experienced Addiction Specialist / Psychiatrist to become the Clinical Lead for Mental Health & Addiction services in Te Tai Tokerau (Northland). The role supports a small city and beach lifestyle while providing leadership and clinical expertise to a multidisciplinary team over the entire district from Wellsford to the North Cape. The service includes Opioid Substance Treatment, Alcohol and Other Drugs, and Te Ara Oranga – a multi‑agency programme that coordinates police, NGO and health services to address methamphetamine addiction. Responsibilities Provide clinical leadership for the Mental Health & Addiction teams. Lead and support multidisciplinary treatment programmes across the district. Facilitate collaboration between health, police and community partners. Promote professional development and maintain high standards of patient care. Qualifications Eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (MCNZ) in a Psychiatry Vocational scope of practice. Experience in addictions practice or a strong interest in the field. Capability to work within a small city and/or beach lifestyle in Te Tai Tokerau.
