Job Description Support teaching in the School of Science as part of a collaborative technical team. Support high‑quality teaching delivery Join a supportive and innovative Science team Additional university leave and competitive superannuation About the Role This hands‑on position is responsible for ensuring laboratories are safe, well‑maintained, and ready for teaching activities through laboratory cleaning, glassware washing, waste disposal, stock management, and upkeep of laboratory facilities and equipment. Working alongside a team of skilled technicians, you will assist with teaching‑related technical activities and provide backup support for Science Store operations, including receipt, storage, distribution, and inventory management of laboratory consumables, equipment, and teaching resources. Salary will be in the range of $60,046 to $72,636 per year based on skills, knowledge and experience. This is a full‑time role (37.5 hours a week), based at Hillcrest Campus, Hamilton. Qualifications You will have a science qualification or relevant experience in a scientific or laboratory environment. You will have good communication and ICT skills, a sound understanding of health and safety practices, and experience using or maintaining laboratory equipment. You are proactive, approachable and committed to providing excellent service while helping to maintain safe, efficient, and well‑functioning laboratories. You are a well‑organised and reliable team player with a positive, customer‑focused approach. You have good attention to detail, can manage your time effectively and enjoy working in a practical laboratory environment supporting teaching activities. You are adaptable, willing to learn new skills, and able to contribute to a collaborative team that works together to deliver high‑quality support for staff and students.
