Our Timber & Building department sits at the heart of our Trade operation — supporting builders, contractors, and serious DIY customers who rely on us every day for quality products, efficient service, and practical advice. This is a hands‑on position where teamwork matters, support is valued, and no two days are quite the same. About the Role We have a permanent, full‑time opportunity (40 hours per week) available within our Timber & Building (Trade) department, working across both the Trade Counter and Timber Yard. The roster for this role includes every Sunday and finishes at 7 pm (closing shift). This is a hands‑on, customer‑facing role supporting customers from enquiry through to order fulfilment. You'll work in a fast‑paced environment where accuracy, product knowledge, and teamwork matter. Whether you’re on the counter processing orders or out in the yard preparing them, your focus will be on keeping customers moving quickly and correctly. We’re looking for someone who already has timber and building product knowledge and enjoys working in a customer‑facing trade environment. This is a physically active role in a busy department, involving regular manual handling of timber, building materials, and trade product. Team members must be comfortable safely undertaking the physical requirements of the role while working in an outdoor, warehouse‑style retail environment. Key Responsibilities Assisting trade and retail customers with timber and building materials Processing orders and transactions accurately at the trade counter Providing practical advice and product solutions Picking, packing, and preparing trade orders in the timber yard Coordinating pick‑ups and deliveries with the yard team Operating within the drive‑through trade area Stock replenishment and maintaining merchandising standards Keeping the counter and yard tidy, organised, and professional What You’ll Bring Previous experience in timber, building supplies, hardware retail, or a trade‑related environment — required Sound knowledge of timber and building products, gained through trade, construction, DIY, or hardware experience — required Full New Zealand driver’s licence required. Support to obtain an F endorsement can be provided as part of the role.
